Getting started

  • Sign up not working?Make sure you've verified your email — we send a link as soon as you finish the form. Didn't arrive? Check spam, then try signing in again to trigger a fresh email.
  • Stuck on California-only?V1 supports California ZIP codes (90001–96162). We'll expand once we've nailed the in-state experience.
  • How do I invite a roommate?Open your household → “Invite someone” → share the 8-character code or the join link. They sign up and paste the code; you're housemates.

Money & balances

  • How are splits calculated? Equal-split only in V1 — the amount divides evenly across the participants you check. Remainder cents land on the lowest-sorted participant ID so totals always reconcile.
  • I paid via Venmo — how do I record it?Open the household → Settle up → enter the recipient + amount + method. The settlement is a self-attestation; we don't move money on your behalf.
  • Can I dispute a settlement? Yes — within 7 days of the original. Open the settlement and click Dispute; the original record is reversed and your balance returns.
  • Recurring expenses (rent, utilities)? Open the household → Recurring → New. The expense auto-posts at 06:00 household-local on the schedule you pick.

Account & privacy

  • How do I change my name? Settings → Profile.
  • How do I change my password?Settings → Security. We'll sign you out of every other device when the change lands.
  • How do I see my active sessions?Settings → Security shows every device you're signed in from with a per-device revoke button.
  • How do I export my data? Settings → Privacy → Download my data. You get a JSON file with every row carrying your personal information per §1798.110.
  • How do I delete my account?Settings → Privacy → Delete my account (type your email to confirm). Cascade-immediate; can't be undone.

Something's broken

  • Page won't load? Refresh once. If the same screen still errors, email hello@roomly.fooand include the digest shown on the error page — that's the correlation key for our logs.
  • Can't sign in after resetting password? Clear cookies for roomly.foo and try again. If still stuck, reach out.
  • Mobile app stuck on the tab tree? Sign out from More → Sign out and sign back in. Bearer-token edge cases get cleaner with a fresh session.
